Trunk Show Happiness

My friend Cherie is a great friend and also a fellow Etsy artist. We met last summer at a craft fair and became fast friends, finding that we had much in common (although Cherie's Etsy shop, http://www.jimmypickles.etsy.com/ is a soaring success, and mine is...well...still a fledgling. But that's another story for another blog). While my medium is gemstones, Cherie's is fabric. She has a very good eye for color and pattern, and her display is always a visual treat. Last fall we teamed up for an accessories trunk show, and it was a lovely night. We were invited to do our second trunk show together on Friday night in historic Cold Spring Harbor at a private residence. My fun and amazing friend Samantha also came along for the evening. We had a great time! A much more enjoyable event than sitting behind a craft show table all day, that's for sure! The trunk show guests loved the colors of all of the accessories, the range of product, and I admit: it was total eye candy. :)

Here's my jewelry display:

And Cherie's beautiful, colorful assortment of fabric purses:

Doesn't this just say, "welcome spring"? :)

On the Path of Enlightenment

Just wanted to have a little blog celebration for myself. I've lost 15 pounds so far since mid-January! With minimal effort! I feel great, I can keep up with the kids better, and I am just happier in general. Given that my youngest will be 2 in June, I realized it was time to lose the baby weight. Big fan of Weight Watchers. Doing the online thing, and it's just excellent. Okay, that's all I wanted to say.

Oh, and here's a little picture of Julianne, my pip. She's pretending to be her Auntie Em, who is expecting. Julianne put Beary-Bear, her beloved, under her jumper and suddenly became maternal. So cute.

So Much To Do....

...so little time! Okay, so this week has found me:

-starting to prepare for a private trunk show next Friday;
-attempting to promote myself on Etsy more on forums;
-listing items (and relisting items) on Etsy;
-turning my jewelry ideas into real pieces at midnight and later;
-playing amateur product photographer;
-spending too much time on Etsychat, making contacts;
-dealing with a double ear infection and pink eye in my 3-yr-old;
-kissing Thomas' fat little cheeks a zillion times a day.
I am attempting not to get overwhelmed by Etsy. But it's not easy. As soon as jewelry is listed on there, it's buried. Jewelry is an oversaturated category! Alas, it's my craft. So as Tim Gunn says, I have to "find a way to make it work." :) I need to find my buyers and direct them to my little shop. Easier said than done!
Anyway, enough of that. Here's a new pair of earrings I just finished! Named Flying Point after one of my favorite Southampton beaches. I can just imagine my toes sinking into the sand. Ahhh, summer.
